Director of Finance and Human Resources

The Director of Finance and H/R is responsible for leadership and direction of the Finance and Human Resource department at the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Establish accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP
• Facilitate annual audit by external auditors
• Oversee school finances; including quarterly financial reporting, annual budget process, purchasing, payables, receivables, payroll and H/R.
• Oversee school internal financial controls, regulatory compliance and outside reporting requirements
• Serve as the primary check-signing authority
• Maintain relationships with banks, investment institutions, auditors and any other external providers of financial services
• Develop, recommend and oversee the implementation of tuition-related procedures and collections
• Develop financial planning models and forecasts
• Evaluate school systems for efficiency and quality control;
• Manages relationships with vendors, evaluating contracts for cost savings, efficiency and effectiveness;
• Serve as secondary authorized signer on all school matters including financial, physical plant, vendor contracts and other documents and contracts
• Understand and abide by all labor laws
• Oversee timecard processes, payroll and salary adjustments
• Oversee health insurance renewals and all other employee benefits

Skills and Requirements:
• Fully aligned with the mission and purpose of Hope Academy with a commitment to serve as a strong Christian role model
• Accounting experience including general ledger, financial statements, budget preparation, investment management and financial reporting experience
• BA degree required in related area; MBA or CPA preferred
• Strong integrity and reliability

• Effective team building, problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and be attentive to details

School days: Monday-Friday 10:00 am -2:00 pm, (20 hours per week) during the school year

Job Description
Under general supervision, completes a variety of tasks in the school cafeteria; prepares and serves food, cleans work areas and equipment, operates a service terminal, and prepares and transports bulk food and supplies. Work is performed in a commercial food service and kitchen work environment; moderate physical requirements, with risk of burns or cuts, frequent lifting, carrying and moving up to 50 pound containers of food preparation materials and equipment; may require working in a walk-in cooler.

General Responsibilities
• Oversee daily operations in the kitchen and cafeteria and staff, including ordering food & maintaining daily production records
• Assists the kitchen staff with basic food preparation, service, food storage, and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining and storage areas.
• Performs work within scope of authority and training, and in compliance with NSLP and Hope Academy policies and quality standards; duties will vary according to job assignment.
• Counts snack or breakfast items to be sent to classrooms, may assist with bagging breakfast items for breakfasts served in classrooms.
• Cleans and maintains orderly, safe and sanitary conditions in kitchen facility; cleans dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment and kitchen surfaces.
• Prepares the service lines for meal time; serves meals as directed and in correct portions.
• Counts products received and shipped; verifies that the quantity, quality and type of products match the daily summaries and work orders. Stores food according to sanitary handling standards.

o safety and sanitation practices for food preparation, holding and storage.

Preferred:
o Knowledge of principles of record keeping and records management.
o Spanish-speaking preferred but not required.

Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Food handling experience preferred.
Dependability; must have reliable transportation to the school.

Academic Support Center Tutor

Part-Time Academic Support Center Tutor (6th – 12th grade) – 5 hours per week

Job Details:

  • Upper School Academic Support Center Tutor (5 hours a week, hourly position)
  • Assist the Academic Support Teacher by working with and tutoring middle and high school students at the Academic Support Center.
  • The Academic Support Center is a place for students to get additional help with their school work before and after school. This position would only be for the before school time.
  • Hours would be Monday-Friday 8:45-9:45 a.m.
  • Five days a week is desired, but there is flexibility to work only 3 of the days during the week.
  • Pay rate is $14.00 per hour.
